Tara Dianne Thomas passed away on Sunday Dec. 5, 2010 at home in Dublin, Ohio. She had been diagnosed with terminal cancer on August 30 of this year. Tara was a real estate sales associate with Just Results Real Estate and before that a professional sales person in truck transportation. She is survived by her husband of 37 years James A. Thomas; son Alexander Thomas of Dublin; mother Marguerite Day of Waterford, MI; and brothers, Robert and Nancy Day of Waterford, MI and Duane and Claudia Day of Novi, MI. She is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews.


Carolyn June McGrail passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Sunrise of Worthington. She was a retired real estate salesperson and former owner of Wicks and Sticks in Worthington. She is a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Worthington Moose Lodge 1427 and Rush Creek Homeowners Association. An avid reader and crafts maker, Carolyn participated in many book clubs and frequently shared her talents for candle making, crocheting and other crafts with local Girl Scout and Brownie Troops. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert S. McGrail; sons, Gregg (Karen) of Columbus, Garth (Sharon) of New London, Grant of Phoenix, AZ, G. Scott (Gretta) of Marion; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Kost; nephew, Steve (Susie) Snyder; niece, Susie Cooper; sister-in-law, JoAn Young; brother-in-law, John J. Michael S. Dugan, of Columbus and formerly of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010. He was a real estate agent with Real Living HER in Westerville and a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Scioto Boat Club. Michael is survived by his wife, Kerrie; children, Erin, Kara and Jude Dugan; mother, Marilyn L. Dugan of Huntersville, NC; father, David P. (Fran) Dugan of Las Vegas, NV; brother, David P. Dugan, II; sisters, Dawn (Charles) Weinhardt, Debra (Roger) Meltzer and Tammy (Lee) Johnson; several nieces. Contributions may be made in his memory to Grace Lutheran Church or W.A.R.M.


George S. "Rocky" Frost of Dublin and formerly of Upper Arlington passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010. Rocky was a real estate agent with King Thompson Realty, Inc., for over 40 years, retiring as President/Broker in 1990. He was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School and The Ohio State University, where he was an OSU cheerleader and an active member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, attending their alumni club luncheons until just recently. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Rocky was a member of Upper Arlington Rotary Club, Upper Arlington Civic Association; Upper Arlington Area Chamber of Commerce, where he was awarded the 1988 Business Person of The Year; Triangle Lodge #748 F&AM; Aladdin Temple Shrine and Covenant Presbyterian Church. He loved to travel with family and never met a stranger. Rocky was an avid swimmer, golfer, tennis player and loved skiing. He was one of the kindest men you ever met who always had a smile on his face and a song to sing.. Rocky will be missed by his wife of 19 years, Lois Forrest Frost; daughter, Susan Frost; step-daughters, Cindy (Eric) Gilbertson and Connie (Greg) Mintz; grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Gretchen, Kristen, Josh, Sara, Seth and Hadley; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Eliza and Hadley; brother, Jack and his wife, Jean Frost of Upper Arlington; other relatives and many friends. James V. "Jim" Thompson passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010. He was an associate with Homefront Inspection Services, served on the board of the American Society of Home Inspectors and was a member of the National Association of Home Inspectors. No matter how busy he was, he always made time to help his friends and family and made sure he was able to spend time with his grandkids. Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 41 years, Kathy; daughters, Jamie (Stephen) and Shannon; proud "Papa" of grandkids, Erin, Cameron and Connor; sister, Charee Thompson; brothers, Jon (Terry), Matt (Penny), Mark (Suzie), Rob (Betsy), Pat (Kim) and Tom; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Bettsy Wooten Jack passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010. She was an active residential REALTOR with Real Living HER for over 30 years and a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Clintonville. She traveled extensively, enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader, and enjoyed time spent with friends. The love of her life was her pet dog Schotzi, who remained a constant companion for many years. Bettsy is survived by two daughters, Vicki Gust of Columbus, Indiana and Luanne (David) Beebe of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Gust and Erica and Jack Beebe; brother, Jack (Grace) Wooten of Nelsonville, Ohio; sister, Judy (Richard) Barber of Murray City, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Vivian R. Graham passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Westerville. She was a former sales associate with Coldwell Banker King Thompson in Dublin and a loving and devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to the many who shared her life. She was never one to miss a party or occasions with friends and family. Vivian cherished the 25 years as an Air Force wife, traveling to many countries. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite team, the Buckeyes, playing golf, bowling and bridge club. Geneva D. Via, age 83, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Columbus, OH. Former resident of Sanford, FL. Member of the Family Worship Center, Sanford FL. "Genny" joined her husband, Lt.Col Retired, Ernest A. Via. "Genny" is survived by daughters, Sue (Chuck) Lusk-Gleich of Columbus, Christina Via of Beverly Hills CA; sons, David (Annette) Via of Middletown MD and Randy Via of Columbus; known as "Tutu" to her grandchildren, John Lusk, Nicholas Via, Randy Vaughn, Alex Via; great-grandchild, Gavin Via; special friend, Wendy Via; many nieces and nephews. Peggy Lee Parsley, a sales associate with Superior Homes Realty and a resident of Canal Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at her residence. Peggy was a 1975 graduate of Newark High School. She attended Vineyard of Johnstown, enjoyed tandem skydiving and loved the outdoors. Douglas B. "Doug" Rife, broker/owner of Doug Rife Real Estate Company and a resident of Dublin Retirement Village, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital with his family by his side. Doug served in the US Army in WWII as an airborne jump instructor with the 82nd Airborne Division. He started his residential real estate career as a salesman in 1950 and in 1960 opened his company on Sullivant Avenue. For 49 years, he had a distinguished career as a real estate broker and was a career-long member of the Board. Away from his real estate business, he found enjoyment playing poker and bridge, and always looked forward to his many trips with Elizabeth to Las Vegas and more recently to Belterra Casino. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth (Grover) Rife; children, Judy (Patrick) Rhodes, Rick (Rhonda) Rife, and Karen (Doug) Eighmey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Rudolph Melvin "Rudy" Stern, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at The Zusman House. For 40 over years, Rudy was a well-known and respected REALTOR on the eastside of Columbus. He served as a member of the 1972-74 CBR Board of Trustees, was a member of the CBR MLS Committee and he taught many classes for new agents. He was also a member of the Ohio State Alumni Association, B'nai B'rith, Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, and an active member of Temple Israel for over 50 years. In addition, he was a supporter of many charitable causes, among them the United States Memorial Holocaust Museum, the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Franklin Park Conservatory. Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Joel Gleeson Stern; son, Robert H. Stern of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Nancy Stern Lipson (Ira) of Dallas, Texas; two grandsons; step-sons, Stephen Gleeson (Susan) of Newark, Ohio and Joe Gleeson (Marilyn) of Richmond, Indiana; step-daughter, Beth Snelling-Stewart of Phoenix, Arizona; eight step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
